Ajit Patel was born In Bombay in 1951.

He studied art & photography at the Epsom School of Art & Design in the UK between 1976-79, where he graduated with honors.
He returned to India thereafter and quickly established himself as one of the country’s foremost photographers.

His unique interpretation of light and form has created many memorable advertising campaigns and significantly contributed to redefining the aesthetics of Indian advertising photography.

In 2020, the Commercial Artists Guild of India, honoured him with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution in photography to Indian advertising.

Ajit has now set out on another journey. a personal one in which the quotidian and the commonplace are his treasured companions.
He draws out truths from simple even mundane objects as if to remind us that they too have an inner life that is worth attending to.
